Brazwell's Pub

About us

Brazwell's was named in loving memory of William Joel Braswell (March 17, 1931- August 22, 2006) “Braz” as he was known, lived every day to the fullest, surrounded by good friends, enjoying life, and toasting each other’s blessings.

Billy Braswell was Central High's class of 1949, where he was captain of his basketball team. He was coined the 'blonde bomber' by the Charlotte Observer and recognized as an All-County Star. Often voted Central High's "wittiest" and "friendliest," he went on to enlist in the United States Air Force where he sang, danced, and entertained the troops.

He graduated from the University of Florida, as a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. At the Gator Stadium "walk of fame," a brick honors his years as a devoted and dedicated gator fan. His summers shagging at the beach earned 'Braz' Shaggers on the Strand's "Living Legends Hall of Fame" membership at Fat Harold's in Ocean Drive, South Carolina. 'Braz" was well known in Charlotte for his singing and impersonations of stars and singers of his era. Everyone has their own personal funny story about 'Braz,' sneaking into the ACC as a 'caterer," or with a 'borrowed' press pass, barging into a rendition of the "Music Man" or Sinatra song, many enjoyed his entertaining personality.

"Braz" would want you to enter this establishment in the same spirit he lived with his whole life, surrounded by friends, enjoying life, and toasting each other's blessings. On behalf of all of us at Brazwell's, please enjoy your time with us!
